It is primarily a music festival and attracts a rich and varied programme, from a widely talented musical world, to the old and historical City of Bergen in Norway. Each year normally ONE artist is chosen for this, arguably the most prestigious annual Festival event in Norway. In 1997, Ragnhild Monsen was chosen to be the sole exhibitor .... the first time a textile artist had ever been chosen for this honour in the 45 year history of the festival. His Royal Highness, King Harald V, graciously accompanied by Her Royal Highness Queen Sonja, attended the opening of Ragnhild's exhibition.
